Family Matters

Spoiler Alert!

Be sure to read The Good Neighbor first – then you’ll want to read this novella!

You can buy Family Matters  on Amazon

–  now available in paperback and on Kindle Unlimited

Hi Everyone!
When I finished writing Home for Christmas, Louise and Blue’s story, I sat back and thought about where everyone in Fortune Bay was in their lives at this point. Louise and Blue were fine, all lovey-dovely, Louise moving into Blue’s new log house, both of them ecstatic about the possibility of twins.

But what about Frankie and Sean? By spring, it had been five months since they found Amber—or rather, since she found Sean. Now he and Amber were living with his mom Stephanie, and Frankie was living alone—not the best situation for Sean and Frankie – or for Stephanie and Max.

And what about Amber? It was hard to believe everything was just smooth sailing for her after such a huge upheaval in her life.
By now you have probably figured out how real these characters are to me! Lol. I couldn’t leave them in this situation. The story started to grow and turned into this sequel novella, written specially for my most loyal readers who have been reading all the Murphy family Fortune Bay books.

If you haven’t read the other books, do yourself a favor and put this book aside until you have.
I hope you enjoy Family Matters as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Judy Hudson

One reader obviously felt the same way when they finished The Good Neighbor.

I hope she finds this book now. If she is on my mailing list she’ll know by now.

Thanks for reading,

Just want to share my new cover.

If books are our babies, I have to share my first book in her new party dress.

I loved the graphic quality of the old cover, but too many people asked me if it was for adults. YES!

It obviously looked too young though, some thought Young Adult. So time for a new cover, and my cover girl Rosey Hudson and I agreed this was perfect. Same scene, better representation.

Had to show it again ’cause it’s so pretty.

If you haven’t read it yet, check your eReader– I’ve given away thousands of copies to introduce readers to the Fortune Bay series.

If you only ready print, it is available in print at Amazon, Barnes & Noble online, and the Createspace store.

Update!

I’ve been really busy and thought I’d give you an update.

  • How do you like my new website? I love it! Except that I can’t get my “Find me on social media” buttons to work. Hopefully soon.
  • The Getting to Know You Survey is now closed. There wasn’t a spot for people to enter their name,  just their email addresses. My mistake.  I don’t want to post their email addresses here, so I have contacted the winners (Check your email) and will post their names when they respond. Half of the 16 winners have already responded.
  • The facebook party was quiet but fun. I enjoyed a more intimate ‘chat’ with the people who visited.
  • In all, I have a much better ideas of who my readers are, so I don’t feel like I’m writing in a vacuum, and I possibly got some ideas on how to reach them and how to keep them happy. 🙂 I’ll post some of the interesting responses in my next post.
  • I’m moving right along on the rough draft of the next full length Fortune Bay book, probably to be called, Starting Over. I’m  1/3 of the way through, clearing my social schedule to write every day. I plan to have the draft done by the end of July, when I will send it to my editor and go to the UK for a holiday. I’m hoping to have it out in October… The delay was that, at the same time, I was planning the next three books, a related but separate series. Maybe not the most efficient way to work, but you can’t force the muse.
  • I’m changing the cover of Lake of Dreams. Visually I love how crisp it is, but too often readers think it is very young, maybe even Young Adult. I’ll be posting a few cover ideas for your comments soon!
  • If, in the past, you went to my pinterest page you may have wondered, what’s with all the Victorian pics? I’ve removed them so the pins page is mostly Fortune Bay and some of my interests now. Check it out.
  • I reworked Family Matters, the sequel novella to The Good Neighbor that I have been giving to my VIP Readers (formerly called the inner circle. I felt it sounded too covenish so I changed it.) I thought I’d release Family Matters as an ebook, and I still might. You could call it a bridge novella between the first books and Starting Over, but I don’t want to spoil the story in The Good Neighbor  for new readers. Not sure, but I’m happy with the changes.
  • The new VIP Readers website is almost ready. If you’ve reviewed any of the Fortune Bay books, and are interested in joining the VIP Readers group and receiving Advanced Readers Copies of the upcoming books and other perks, send me an email at Judy@JudithHudsonAuthor.com and tell me where you’ve reviewed any of the books and the name you use.

I think that’s all. It’s enough! I’m happy to be working on the new book though, and will be in touch soon.

The correct date and time for the facebook party

Can I make any more mistakes with the date and time of this facebook party!?

I must have had the calendar open on the wrong month when I set up the party two weeks ago, and when I wrote the last post about the 20 questions survey and set it to go live today, because since then I have realized I had the date (and some of the times!) wrong. (As my husband pointed out so helpfully this morning, there is no Thursday June 7.)

And, to complicate matters more, I later  changed the date to Tuesday because of a previous commitment. (A Grad!)

To say I am in my own little world when I’m immersed in the first draft of a new book would be an understatement.

So, let’s try it again.

On Tuesday June 6 I’ll be posting and chatting with readers for an hour from 10 – 11 am PDT (1 – 2 pm EDT) and again at 6 – 7 pm PDT (9 – 10 pm EDT), but you can drop in any time Tuesday June 6th and add your comments to be entered in draws.

To see the corrected original post– including what’s in the draws and my answers to the 20 Questions Survey — click here.

Now, if I can only remember on Tuesday to show up, everything will be fine!
