How to start reading e-books today on your phone or tablet.

Right now, the Fortune Bay e-books are only available on Amazon. But I’ll show you how to get the Kindle app on your phone or tablet and start reading e-books today!

Wherever you are, in the park, in line at the grocery store, your book is synced and right there with you.

Don’t have a kindle e-reader? Don’t panic!

You can download a free kindle app (circled in the picture above) for your phone or tablet (or computer for that matter) and read the books there. To get set up, go to your apps store on the device of your choice and find the free Kindle app. Or click on the link, like the one I’ve circled on the example above. (Of course, my ebooks and print books will still be for sale on Amazon if you decide not to join KU.)

I am doing the reverse myself – reading my kobo books on my phone and tablet these days. It works great too.

Already have a kindle?

Then do as I’ve done and install an app on your phone, too. That way you can Sync with your e-reader and pick up the story any time you have a few minutes to fill – in line at the bank, waiting for kids after sports, wherever you are.
And, of course, if you have already subscribed to Kindle Unlimited, you will be able to read the whole Fortune Bay series for free! (Except Lake of Dreams, the book I save exclusively for members who join my readers group)

What is Kindle Unlimited?

It’s an Amazon package where for $9.99 a month you can download and read as many books from the Kindle Unlimited library as you want. Over one million books are free to subscribers on the Kindle Unlimited platform and by joining KU you can take advantage of those offers.

Yes, only 2 reviews on the Canadian account. Amazon won’t share the American reviews. Come on fellow Canadians, show me some love!

Because I have a KU account attached to my Canadian Amazon account, I see the $0.00 KU price as circled on the Amazon book page above. 

Now might be a good time to sign up when due to the Corona virus many libraries are closed.

And bonus, e-books arrive germ free!

Americans can find KU on amazon.com, and customers in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, India, China, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and Australia can sign-up for Kindle Unlimited in their local online Amazon store. Amazon is planning to continue expanding the service to other countries soon.

Uncharted waters – Kindle Unlimited

I’m trying something new with most of the Fortune Bay ebooks – putting them into the Kindle Unlimited program for a few months. That’s right, they’ll all be free through the Kindle Unlimited lending library,as well as for sale on Amazon.
The catch? The ebooks will not be for sale on other online platforms.  (Sorry kobo, nook and apple readers! But read on for how to access this platform and KU with out a kindle e-reader.)

How to read eBooks without an eReader.

Don’t have an eReader? Or even if you do, you might want to turn your tablet or phone into an eReader. Start taking advantage of online book deals, whether from kindle, kobo or nook. Do like the iPad users do and download a free app to turn your PC tablet, iPad or phone, whether android or iPhone, into an eReader.

The advantages to reading on an eReader are many:

  • they are often lighter or smaller than a bound book
  • you control the font size, and screen brightness and color
  • buy books instantly by connecting online
  • link your tablet and phone (by downloading an app in your user name to each) then check in with your book anywhere, anytime you have your phone
  • eBooks are generally much less expensive than even paperbacks
  • take advantage of special  eBook sales and giveaways
  • connect to free books at your library without going to pick them up
  • no stacks weighing down your nightstand

The downside?

  • no nice paper smell and feel
  • it is harder, although not impossible, to share books

I’m a convert, for all of the pro’s reasons. And while I have a kindle and used to have a kobo reader,  lately I have also been reading my kindle books on my phone and think I might go for a small reading tablet when my kindle gives out (although they seem to last forever) so I can access my kobo library.

Try it yourself. Go to the app store on your device and download the appropriate app, set up an account at the online retailer, if you don’t already have one, register your device(s) and you’re ready to go. If you have an iPad or iPhone, you might have one hidden on your device that will access apple books.

Then download the free e-copy of the first book in the Fortune Bay series, Summer of Fortune from the sidebar on the right and start reading. Then I’ll send you notifications and general news whenever I have a new book out or on special sale.

 

 

A new Fortune Bay Christmas Novella!

I’m excited to get this book out in time for Christmas! <G>

I know, that should be a given, this being a Christmas story and all, but this has been a difficult year in a lot of ways. First we had the big move and downsizing for my husband and myself, some health issues and, just when I thought we were sliding into the new normal, a death in the family in September.

But as always, the writing was a balm, and as well, real life provided lots of inspiration.

You might remember Star, independent and plucky, arriving in Fortune Bay in Home for Christmas, and saving Marshall from the paparazzi in Starting Over.

But in the end, she still hadn’t found her own happily-ever-after. (I know a lot of you readers were rooting for her. ) As usual, though, the HEA is not exactly what she’d thought it would be – although it might be exactly what she wanted.

And when she moves into the Murphy’s cabin, of course Augusta can’t help but interfere  lend a hand!
